I'll Need Anti-Aging Before I'll Need Baby Items

People ask me if I have kids. My answer is always no. They ask if I plan to have kids. My answer is usually that I am going to need a wrinkle filler long before I'm going to need a diaper bag. In other words, no, I don't. Not having a boyfriend or husband is a big help in that department. Of course, I could always adopt - but since I'm not financially stable, that's not an option either. ;)

I don't know why people are so worried about when others will have kids. The population of the planet is not going to suddenly drop to 3 people if I don't have kids. And frankly, since PCOS makes it difficult to get pregnant, I'm not as likely to have a kid even if I do get a boyfriend/husband. That's just the way it is.

I can do fine with my cousin's new baby girl (she's almost 2 months old now) thanks. In fact, I might just see what my cousin's address is and send her a baby blanket that I made a while ago but have never been able to sell. It's a girlie blanket. :D And it's cute. :D So I can do just fine with my cousin's kid - I don't need one of my own. :D

What I Watch

Lately most of my TV watching has come late at night. WE TV plays "Ghost Whisperer" each night at midnight, so we watch that, then flip through the channels to see what else is on. If that John Edward Crossing Over show is on, we watch that, although I hate that show. But what really irks me are the commercials that show up late at night.

Have you seen some of these commercials? There are ones for topical creams for women who can't seem to get in the mood, ones for ways to get rid of belly fat, commercials for exercise equipment, male enhancement, etc. Oh well, at least it gives me a lot of good blogging fodder. I mean, really. A lot of these products are things that if you truly need them you'll find them.

And why, pray tell, is Bare Minerals makeup still doing infomercials when you can now buy the stuff through several online stores? The stuff is so popular that other companies are making their own versions just to keep from going under! And yet they still feel the need to run infomercials each night?? Wow. Just wow.

Why Am I So Hungry??

I just don't get it! The past two or three days I've just been ravenous. It's like I just can't get enough to eat! I don't get this way very often, but usually when I do get this way, I'm not like this for days on end, just a day and I'm done! Pretty soon if it doesn't stop I'll have to look into appetite suppressants to keep me from getting any bigger than I already am! :/

That being said, it's funny how people see me eat and wonder how I'm fat. I don't eat that much. I can't eat that much. This hernia keeps me from eating too much because I get sick if I do. But yet I'm still fat. The doctor blames it on my PCOS - he says I won't start losing weight until the PCOS is treated. Yet the meds he gives me for the PCOS make me so hungry I can't stop eating. What is the point of trying to lose weight if you're starving all the time?? Not to mention the meds for my PCOS are normally used to treat diabetics for their blood sugars. They stimulate the pancreas to produce more insulin. I should know. I've had enough diabetics in the family to learn the ins and outs of it! :/

I just wish I'd stop being so hungry right now. I just ate a bowl of pineapple (bad me, I know, I'll pay for it later, I'm sure) and a fried egg sandwich, and I'm still hungry! *sigh*

Lots of Work To Do

There is a lot of work to do around here. We have to get the living room area decluttered and cleaned up so that we have a good place to do our crafts. My best friend just opened her own shop - she's borrowing my eBay ID for right now, but that's ok. :D I don't mind. But her shop is on Artfire since she doesn't have any income right now. :) Artfire doesn't have fees for free accounts, so it's all good.

But when we do get the living room set up, we're trying to decide what kind of shades to put on the windows. We don't want blinds because we have cats, and cats are notorious for messing up blinds. But we aren't too fond of things like roller shades either. So we're still trying to decide. Myself, I'd like to see some solid white curtains to help diffuse morning light so we can take better photos of our stuff.

Any way we look at it, we've got a lot of work to do to get the living room the way we want it so we can do our crafts out there!

Into Health

I have a friend who is really, really into health. We're talking to the point that she was actually refuse to eat certain foods once she finds out the calorie, fat, and salt contents if they are too high. We're talking she won't eat them at all, not even once in a great while, no matter how much she likes them. Yes. THAT into health. So as you can imagine she loves Trader Joe's and she'd adore a Whole Foods just so she could get organic stuff all the time. :/

The other night here she was going on and on and on about vitamins. She wants a natural vitamin, not an artificial vitamin. Personally, I don't see what the big deal is, but she is insistent that the vitamins she takes need to be natural, not artificial. If it does the job, I don't see the big deal.

Did I mention that I'm of the mind that we're all going to die one day, we're going to die when it is our time to die, and nothing can be done to change that? I could be healthy as a horse and still get killed in an accident or something. If it's my time to go, it's my time to go. End of story. Stop trying to "save my life" by telling me to lose weight, etc. You don't know how much time I truly have to live. :/

Um, No, Thank You

We went a few places today before the car decided to stop working on us, and frankly, I am amazed at what I saw in a couple of the places. I know back in the late 90's - around 1998 & 1999 - there was a company that sold various diet supplements that was basically running their company like Avon or Mary Kay does. You signed up with them as an independent consultant and you set up shop somewhere. Some people who sold it (I *think* it was called HerbaLife but I'm not positive on that) would post up flyers on every telephone pole and grocery store bulletin board they could find. Other people who sold it would set up shop outside gas stations and inside laundromats that allowed them to go ahead and sit there with their little card tables, handing out free samples to those who were interested in trying it before they bought it, and selling to people who just plain wanted to go ahead and try it.

I couldn't believe that I was seeing this! It was like being back about 11-12 years ago! These people were actually selling their stuff like that. I don't know what it was they were selling, but I do know that whatever it was, very few were buying it. I know they had a big box of whatever it was next to them, but I'd be willing to bet that box was still just as full when they left as it was when they set up earlier. Wow. People actually still sell stuff like that. Amazing. LOL

Freelancing FTW!!!

A friend of mine just got hired to do some freelance design and blogging work for a company that does things like post up acnepril reviews. What kind of products she'll be posting reviews for, and whether or not those reviews are actually going to be written by her remains to be seen. What she's hoping is that they will be customer reviews that she just has to type up to post on the site, since she's not really too eager to be trying out a bunch of different products on herself due to having some interesting allergies.

Myself, I'm happy for her because this means she'll have more money and be able to be a bit more independent than she has been the past few months. Now I wish I could find some work like that. :D But I don't envy her at all. I'm just saying, it'd be nice to have some work like that. LOL

Working My Tail Off

I've been working my tail off the last couple of weeks, but not because I have gotten a job. On the contrary, I've been working on getting my business up and running. I'm not talking about my freelance writing business, I'm talking about my jewelry business. My freelance writing business doesn't require me to do more than maybe look up life insurance quotes online or some other research and then write up an article or blog post or two. My jewelry business? That is a whole other ball game!

For one thing, I have to promote my shop. I promote via Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace. I am also starting to promote my jewelry via deviantArt and a blog that I am currently housing on Blogger. I am working on getting an official website started (have domain and hosting, haven't finished tweaking the site itself yet lol). I am also working on networking with other Etsy sellers and possibly (if I can) getting an Artfire shop going where I can also network with Artfire users.

I have started to sell on eBay as well - got 2 sales of my jewelry there so far, so that is doing well. I'm just hoping that with all the promotion I'm doing, I'll start seeing some sales coming in! :)

Proper Concert Attire

I cannot believe the just plain stupid attire people were decked out in for the Rockfest 2010 in Council Bluffs, IA. I mean, seriously. We had people wearing nice pressed khaki pants and button-down shirts. We had people dressed in nice tops and capris with expensive shoes. You dont' wear that stuff to a ROCK concert anymore than you wear bow ties to a wrestling match! Good grief people!!!

If you're going to a ROCK concert - combat/Doc Martens/good tennis shoes, jeans/jean shorts, t-shirts/tank tops/bikini tops (if outdoors) are great. Even a sundress for an outdoor show. But don't dress up like you're going to the damn opera! You aren't. Trust me. And flip flops? WTH??? WHY would you wear flip flops in a MOSH PIT??? THINK PEOPLE! Sheesh!

I saw so many girls in flip flops that were headed straight into the mosh pit. Let me say this - I can guarantee we had a few broken feet whether or not they actually left the show because of it. I can only shake my head in wonder at the stupidity of some people!

Not a Babysitter

I am not a babysitter for a grown woman. I refuse to be a babysitter for a grown woman. When I moved back to Iowa in 2006, it was a trade off. I would babysit my friend while her husband was gone - make sure she bothered to shower, take her meds and vitamins, and make sure she paid the bills instead of spending money like it was water. As expected she didn't listen to me about the money, although she did take her meds and she did shower like she was supposed to.

So now my friends and I are going to a concert in Council Bluffs, IA, and we're expected to baby sit my friend's sister to make sure she doesn't drink so that she'll have a ride back home. The rule is, no one who drinks rides in the car. So if she drinks at the concert, she can't get a ride home. Now mind you, Council Bluffs is an hour and a half away from Sioux City at least. And we refuse to baby sit her. So she'd better damn well not drink because I'm not watching her and she's not riding with us if she does drink!
