A Bit Worried

We need some new bedroom furniture around here. I mean, seriously, we need some new bedroom furniture in this house. We each need a new  mattress, BFL & I each need a bed frame, and Mom needs the whole kit and caboodle. Although Mom doesn't want another bed, she wants a recliner - she says she sleeps better sitting up now which worries me.

It worries me because that's how my mom started her decline and started the major breathing problems she had towards the end. She said she couldn't sleep laying down due to problems with breathing - which is what Mom keeps saying about her breathing. That she breathes better and therefore sleeps better when she's sitting up. And that's exactly what my mom said. Of course, it doesn't help that we have no options here for Mom to have health insurance until she is medicare age because our state is really strict on the rules for medicaid and they don't give it to anyone who isn't disabled, medicare age, a parent w/ a child under 18 at home, or a child under 21. :/ So I'm just hoping that it isn't anything major that won't be able to wait until Mom is old enough for medicare.

Playing the Decorating Game

Around here we have a game we like to play.  This house is older and needs some remodeling done to it, and so we like to play the decorating game. Basically we think about all the things we'd do with the house if money was no object. Now the key here is - it has to be done to the house we currently live in. Just because money is no object, that doesn't mean we can just buy a new house and move. ;) So if money were no object and we could remodel this house what would we do.

Now for me, I always think of ways to decorate the bathroom. Yeah. I'm weird like that. But I always come up with some pretty cool ideas, like having a stone sink, or really cool color combinations that would make our bathroom look really nice. I even think of different tile, paint, and curtains to make it look really nice. I mean, yeah, it's a bathroom but that doesn't mean it can't look nice!

De-Cluttering, Cleaning, Re-Arranging

We've been doing a lot of de-cluttering, cleaning, and re-arranging here at the house lately. One of the reasons is because we have a lot of stuff here that when BFL's dad was alive, we didn't need or want, but he wouldn't let us get rid of it because he wanted it. Now that he's gone, we're finally getting around to getting rid of the stuff that we don't need or want.

One of the things we want to do once we get room is get some modern office furniture and make it easier for us to have our computers set up and working. We're tired of having to sit on the floor with our laptops on boxes or on our laps. We want to have desks, chairs, desk lamps, etc to use instead of what we do have. Plus, we'll be able to use USB powered mice once we get the desks. :) I can't wait for that. LOL

And in other news, BFL and I are chomping at the bit for her mom to get paid so we can get BFL's birthday present - late birthday present that is. TNA wrestling is coming to Sioux City and tickets are only $20 so she's getting us tickets for BFL's birthday, then Awesome Biker Nights is also in June and her mom is getting us the wrist bands to go see the bands that are going to be there. We can't wait!!! :)

The More I Know

The less I now want the gastric bypass surgery. It's enough for me that I've been losing weight without any sort of real diet or exercise plan. Now I just need to step up that plan and eat better and exercise more. Because frankly, I don't relish the idea of needing supplements for certain things due to not being able to eat certain foods.

Gastric bypass is a tricky thing. Some foods are fine, others aren't. And it is different for different people. Which means that I could get a job, get insurance, get the gastric bypass, and be in the middle of work when I discover that what I ate for lunch doesn't work for me and be sick as a dog and not able to leave or get away. Not cool. Not cool at all. So now I am re-thinking my stance on the gastric bypass. I've only seen one person who said they actually regretted having the surgery, but that was due to extreme complications with it that made them regret having the surgery.

Then there are the cases I've seen where the bypass didn't do much good - as in a former co-worker who had the bypass done and lost very little of the weight because literally the only thing that stays down is junk food. Chips will stay down, little side salads will stay down, but meat will not - at all. So yeah, I'm rethinking my stance on getting that surgery. :/

Nutrition

One of the things that has always concerned me when dieting is getting proper nutrition. I realize you're supposed to be eating healthy foods, but even then - if you're having to cut way back on calories, sometimes some of the foods you're supposed to be eating and the servings you should be eating end up having to be eliminated.

I suppose that's why some doctors tell patients to take multivitamins when they diet. To be sure they don't miss out on some valuable nutrients. My biggest problem with vitamin pills is that they're usually great big horse pills that are nearly impossible for me to swallow. I have problems swallowing pills in the first place, give me a big pill and I'm probably going to choke on it. :/

So if you diet, how do you make sure you get all the nutrition your supposed to??

Play It Again...

I find it hilarious that I log into Facebook day after day to play silly little games - Farm Town, FarmVille, YoVille, PetVille, Cafe World, Island Paradise,  Mafia Wars, Vampire Wars, Sorority Life, Super Farkle, Mahjongg Dimensions, Country Life, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. I'm sure there are many more games I am forgetting about that I play on Facebook that I log into each day just to play them.

What's even more hilarious is that I'm not alone. I've read online more than once about people who are so worried about their games that they ask friends and family members to log into their Facebook accounts and check the games when they can't be there. As in, I can't be here to log into Facebook and harvest my crops on FarmVille, so I ask BFL to log into my Facebook account and check my farm for me.

The biggest problem I have with this is that the games are making it more and more "multi-player" dependent. FarmVille for example, has co-op farming now. While this is great - several friends join the same job and seed/harvest crops to get a prize, it can also be a bad thing for those who are so into it that they've forgotten it is just a game. This was very apparent when someone left a message on my wall that said "Please harvest your crops for the co-op so we can all move on. Thanks." Apparently this person felt that if they put "please" in front and "thanks" at the end that it wouldn't be considered rude.

Unfortunately for that person it earned them being deleted from my friends, my neighbors, and being blocked. And guess what? When I told other friends about it (not giving out the person's name of course), they all agreed that was a very rude thing to do. So at least I wasn't the only one who thought it was rude and that people need to back off. :/

The Cars These Days....

I'm a NASCAR fan. I love my NASCAR and frankly the only thing that keeps me from watching races is the fact that most of them start (and sometimes end depending on how far they're running that day) before I get home from church on Sunday.

Now I've always heard how conservative NASCAR is and how they won't allow things like tattoos, piercings, etc on their drivers. So when one of the cars showed up plastered with extenze ads, I thought for sure the sanctioning body of NASCAR would tell the racing team that they couldn't do that. To my utter surprise, they had no problem with it. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that.

I mean - the guys can't have tattoos and piercings (Dale Jr said once that if he wasn't a NASCAR driver he'd probably have tattoos and piercings but that because NASCAR requires a clean-cut image he couldn't have them now) - but their cars can feature a product that while it may not be that bad (if a man truly needs such a thing), people get an awful lot of spam email advertising? Wow.

Guess it just goes to show how times change. :)

Go Away

I'm telling you, this acne needs to go away. I realize that it is tied to the PCOS I have and that for that very reason I have not been able to find an acne medication that will work for me, but for crying out loud, I know this is TMI, but if I'm not going to have a period, I shouldn't have the acne that comes right before the period!

I'm telling you right now, this stupid PCOS makes things very difficult. From the weight loss issues (PCOS has the oh-so-lovely *NOT* side effect of causing you to gain weight and making it extremely difficult to lose the weight) to the non-existent periods which mean that conceiving a child is a slim to none event, PCOS is a pain the rear end that I wish would just go away. It won't, but still. I wish it would.

I have friends who have PCOS as well and frankly, they all wish it would go away. Two of them if for no other reason than so they could have children.

What I Won't Be Selling - Ever

There is a long list of things that I would never be selling - at least not out of my own shop. If I worked at a gas station or grocery store, I might, but not out of my shop. These things include alcohol, cigarettes, famous cigars, and energy supplements. I mean really - I go into the gas stations around here and I am just bombarded by shelves that are filled with everything from cigarettes and cigars behind the counter, to pizza and fountain drinks, to bottled and canned beverages of every size and sort.

And the prices these places charge! I know you're paying for the "convenience" of not having to run all the way to Walmart or the grocery store to grab that 12 or 24 pack of soda or beer, but really? Is the convenience worth the price? Although in today's market, it might be just as cheap to buy the beer/soda at the gas station as it is to buy it at the grocery store or Walmart - what with the gas prices these days!

Taking a Nap

I wish I was taking a nap right now - but I'm not. I'm sitting up, watching House, getting confused as to why Chase is at a speed dating event when last I saw, he and Cameron had gotten married. Yeah...I'm seriously wanting to take a nap but it's not going to happen. Instead I'll probably do some work, check out some mortgage life insurance quotes for a couple of friends who are getting ready to buy a house and want to see what kind of insurance they could get to cover the rest of the mortgage if something happens to them. They know I do a lot of internet searches and they don't have internet right now, so I'm more than happy to help them out.

Other than that, I'll probably watch some TV, hang out with the best friend, do some work, and then go to bed. Actually, I can't wait to go to bed. ;)
